120mm - farmland

The last roll of 120mm left in the archives.

Em, at the apple farm this fall.

The rest of the roll are from a walk with my dad at one of my new favourite trails. I was having some trouble with film getting stuck while advancing, hence some of the double exposures/incorrect advancement; it's been happening with portra 400 exclusively. Very strange.

I'm brainstorming ways to make good use of displaying these photos. I've taken a lot of film this year, and I'd like for them to live elsewhere other than here, and on my Flickr.

120mm

I finally started using my TLR this summer, purchased in Hong Kong 10 YEARS AGO. Man, it really was just décor in my house prior to that.

It's been really rewarding playing with the camera; each photo feels precious due to the limited number of exposures in each roll. I was surprised it worked well when I saw my first scans.

i) first roll ever

Taken in the earlier days of summer, when I was in Toronto.

Lauren at UofT.

ii) Uptown fun

Photos around Scarborough/Markham/Stouffville.

Discovered a sweet trail on 9th line.

Main st. Unionville with Tanya.

Saw Onasvi after a few months.

Hike with dad.

iii) PEC pt. 1

I spent a few days in Prince Edward County with Lisa and Cam. We worked from our Airbnb for half of it, but it was still fun exploring the county in more depth compared to my earlier summer trip.

I like this roll a whole lot, though I wish it wasn't taken with expired film; the tones are the only thing that bothers me slightly.

Lisa at the dunes.

The Drake.

iv) PEC pt.2

I don't have much to say about much of these photos I guess, haha. Taking a little break from 120mm since it's draining my wallet.

A summer outside, III, 2020

Counting summer backwards.

Canada Day weekend at Vitus', the first pool gathering of the year.

Hung out with some university friends at the tail-end of June; haven't seen some of them in over 2 years. We played some frisbee and a game of hide-and-seek.

It's nearing the end of summer as I'm writing this.

I usually mark my years by travels and accomplishments. Last year I went to Asia and Iceland, and I got my full time job. The year before, I graduated and went to Japan for the first time. Stuff like that.

I've been very stuck on the lack of milestones to mark this year by, today especially. It freaked me out a bit every time that thought popped in my head (I just watched Charlie Kaufman's I'm thinking of ending things, so that might have something to do with my unease). It's superficial in a way, to define a year by the privileges I can afford like travelling, or to expect some large event or accomplishment to deem a year worthy of celebrating.

I've had many good, smaller moments to mark this year by so far, in addition to cumulative actions that have bettered my wellbeing, like taking regular walks while listening to music. I think these photos are a testament to how lucky I am, and a reminder to focus on the little things and not the grand scheme once in a while.

What a great summer it's been.

A summer outside II, 2020

Took Chia and Koro on a forest walk with Joanne, Ying, Matt, and Susie.

Too cute.

My friends have been really into biking lately. I can't quite keep up.

Some scattered bits from daily walks; I feel very fulfilled and grateful afterwards.

Veronica has been back from the U.K. for a while because of the pandemic. It was nice to see her again.

Lisa invited me to Camilla's for cake and a backyard hang one evening.

Tennis with dad.
