working backwards

I have lots & lots of film to sort through, so I'm working backward from a roll I received today. Not a lot of storytelling here since it's very mundane, but I'll break the images up into several posts.

To preface, it's my first time shooting with Portra 400 and I'm extremely happy with it. It's very versatile and works especially well with contrasted sunlight. The only negative (ha) thing with shooting expensive film is a certain carefulness that comes with shooting; it hinders me from making quick, decisive shots.

From a beautiful neighbourhood in Scarborough.

Golden sunlight on portra is to die for.

a curiosity store at the Christmas market. I like how warm this is.

Leaving some notes about Portra 400 for future use:
  • works great on warm tones and sunny days
  • performance in dim light is okay; avoid hours right after sunset since shadows become harsh
  • like everyone says, portra is great for portraits
  • does decently well with snow; I'd imagine fuji would provide better tones
  • would love to use this on a higher grade camera
