summer in Banff

I took a family trip to Alberta from the end of May to the beginning of June. It was a quickly planned but nonetheless packed trip, the first *real* vacation my family has taken in years. Here are some select photos from Canmore, Banff, and Jasper, uploaded a measly eight months later!!

Seeing mountain-scapes at all directions was expected but surreal. We stayed in Canmore, a less-populated area than Banff, on our first day. We walked into the sunset across an open field we happened upon. It was one of my favourite moments.

The sleepy town of Hinton is an hour drive from Jasper, and it had a strange chemical-y smell (which was promised safe, according to the notice on our hotel elevator) due to the factory in the centre of town. Its smoke, combined with a pastel palette that changed from reds to pink, made, hands down, the best sunset I've ever seen ( interesting fact: sun sets around 10 p.m. there in the summer).

These were from a trail I found online. Banff gets crowded in the summers even though it doesn't seem like it in these photos, so looking for something unique, or stopping at a roadside stop if some cars are parked, can be so rewarding.

The Icefield.

Sudden fog overtook the highway.
